This is going to be a different type of show this time. For our opener this year, for SEASON 3, we decided it would be a great idea to share with you an organization that our values align with and whose members are the exact people that we promote, comprised of Israelis and Palestinians who work on Peace. I’m talking about the ALLIANCE FOR MIDDLE EAST PEACE or ALLMEP.
We’ll be looking at ALLMEP’s recent gala, “Light the Way: A Global Celebration of the Peacebuilding Community.” Why? Because their gala was so much more than a drink and an opportunity for a twirl around the dance floor. Ever want to be a fly on the wall to see what really goes on at an international Gala for an organization doing amazing work, working on Peace? This is an online opportunity to internationally view what usually happens in a ballroom of movers and shakers. We learned about ALLMEP, it’s members, their work, and even their supporters. Why do their supporters choose them for their donations?
ALLMEP was founded in 2006, is headquartered in Washington, DC, and has nearly 160 Israeli and Palestinian Peace organization members. They envision a Middle East in which Israelis and Palestinians have built the trust necessary to live together with dignity, peace, and security. Amen.
ALLMEP has been instrumental in raising awareness of these grassroots Israeli and Palestinian Peace organizations as well as helping to successfully advocate for funds to support them. The $250 million dollar Nita M. Lowey Middle East Partnership for Peace Act or (MEPPA) approved by congress in December of 2020 is just one example that took a decade of hard work by ALLMEP to achieve, but through their dedication, it finally paid off.
