Has your view of Israelis and Palestinians become monolithic, anti-Semitic, bigoted, and racist? Do you think every Israeli settler is a right-wing fanatic that steals land and only has room in Israel for Jews? Or all Palestinians are knife-wielding extremists who want all Jews dead and believe only Palestinians have a right to exist “from the river to the sea?”   Where did these attitudes come from? We must question our perspectives, especially if it is not something we have cared enough about to look further into than what we heard on the news, or what one of our friends believe. Lies repeated can become excepted as fact. Where have we seen that lately?

Israelis and Palestinians are no more one-size-fits-all than any other minority. How long have African Americans and Mexicans fought, and are still fighting, this battle? We, at PEACE with Penny, are so happy to present so many Israeli and Palestinian Peacemakers who believe otherwise. Many have confronted their own beliefs, and slowly changed. Transforming ourselves as humans is not just an instant “add water” undertaking—it takes caring and time.

We hope you will listen to this interview and challenge your perspectives. Listen to the thoughts in your head as Nechama answers questions from PEACE with Penny’s Penny S. Tee. Is there dissonance between your automatic thoughts and what you hear? Question yourself. The world needs to heal. We are all different, not stereotypes. It is a bit long for today’s impatient videos of tell me everything in a minute—but we hope you will agree, worth your time.

PEACE with Penny SEASON 2: Penny S. Tee Interviews Nechama Goldman Barash, a Jewish, Israeli Peace Activist. Peace is our thing, but if you listen carefully, you will recognize something you know in your hearts, but perhaps have not thought about it when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict…People are unique individuals, just like you. Amen. May You Live in Peace, שלום and سلام.
